Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere. If you like trips by water, it is a good place to visit but a bit lacking in things to do apart from that. There is a good bus service to Kendal or Keswick but leave the car and use public transport. You can go to Ambleside by boat or bus but the town is packed during the summer season.

The view from the window, presentation of the property, decor of the room, bottle of water on arrival. Closeness of township.
The staircase was a challenge and heating could have been better controlled.

The location was just perfect.
The location was just perfect. It was central for us to adventure out and explore the Lake District. It was also an exciting location for relaxation in the evenings. Lots of fine restaurants and pubs to choose from with a lovely holiday atmosphere abounding everywhere.
Regretfully the car ferry was out of order and not available to us. That was a bit of a nuisance as our touring plans had envisaged that being available. None the less we had a fabulous holiday and were not overly put-out by the loss.

It is so easy going in Bowness we try to come here as often as we can. There’s something to do for everyone young and old. We have a dog now and he’s so relaxed here many places are dog friendly. Bars and restaurants brilliant especially Italians on the Main Street. Our favourite place can’t wait to come back

I liked the Beatrix Potter museum, Holehird Gardens, and Stagshaw gardens, Hayes garden centre up in Ambleside. Booked an amazing day trip with Mountain Goat tours that took us around ten Lakes of the Lake District with our amazing guide Mark Shipley. the restaurants I went to was Francine's up in Windermere, Urban Food House (superb) and the Magic Roundabout. I was within walking distance of everything in Bowness. I probably would avoid booking in the school holidays, was very busy everywhere. the weather was very changeable but it is the wettest area of Great Britain.

Breakfast was lovely, beautifully presented, Karol and Nigel are pleasant and always attentive. The Covid situation has prevented the full array of choice, self serve cereals, fruit etc at the present time, but for us it was not a problem. The en suite room was bright and comfy. Its position is just a few hundred metres from all that's going on at Bowness on Windermere, we love it here. Value for money, hosts are friendly and helpful, even tips on local walks to take.
So glad we found this little gem of a hotel situated just top of the hill of Bowness, it’s perfect walking distance to the town. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. We also enjoyed the drinks on the terrace when the rain allowed. We cannot wait to return to this fabulous hotel! As it was our wedding anniversary they us pretty surprise with bottle of wine on arrival it was so lovely
The pool and spa was really nice, this part had good facilities and was a decent size although was very busy at one time. The bed was really comfy and huge, but they said they’d gave us a free room upgrade to a bigger one so maybe in the ‘snug’ room the bed would have been smaller. Staff overall helpful. Location to Bowness on Windermere good at less than a 10 minute walk.
The Flat was kept beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could need and the shower room was clean and up to the minute in style. The decor was to a high standard some beautiful finishing touches. The flat was well equipped and in a very good position for the shops, restaurants and cafes in Bowness on Windermere.
Great B&B. Super position with a short walk to the centre of Bowness on Windermere (where the ferries go from). Had an excellent stay. Host's really friendly and cared and made a great effort to make our stay welcome. Nothing too much trouble. Beds lovely and comfy (we had two rooms). Excellent stay and would definitely stay again.
Perfectly situated to access lake Windermere, as well as the towns of Bowness on Windermere, Windermere and Ambleside.
Parking at the rear, with Comfortable rooms, with everything you need, including an awesome shower!
Simon and Joan were the perfect hosts - helpful and knowledgable. Plus, their cooked breakfasts are gorgeous.
Attitude and manner of staff was spot on, the level of professionalism and friendliness felt genuine at all times.
Didn't treat the consumables in the room like they're gold plated like most hotels. Enough toilet rolls to last a week, plenty of shower gels soaps etc, and no shortage of tea and coffee Biscuits.
This hidden treasure in the center of Bowness on Windermere. From stepping foot inside this beautiful Hotel and Spa you are treat like royalty. The amazing staff, beautiful spa, added bonus of a hot tub on our balcony. Pub onsite and a gorgeous asian restaurant. We will definitely be returning.
Beautiful hotel in ideal location in Bowness on Windermere with nice gardens and lake views. Comfortable bed and nice bedding. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and we had a table overlooking lake. We stayed here many years ago and the hotel has been nicely upgraded since.
Great apartment with everything you need, spacious, well equipped, clean and modern. Location also excellent as it's up the hill from the middle of town, with some nice views of Lake Windermere, but still only a 10min walk in via a relatively flat shortcut.
Wonderfully spacious room; excellent WiFi; superlatively friendly proprietors Clare and Robert; great breakfast; easy walk to town centre and lake. F-35 flypasts over Lake Windermere from RAF base to the north an unexpected bonus!
Breakfast was good and piping hot with a nice selection of cereals and fruit segments. Location-wise the hotel is a short walk from all the local pubs, restaurants and Lake Windermere. With on-site parking it ticked all the boxes
Fabulous hotel we loved our stay. Lovely room with balcony and garden view. Amazing breakfast with plenty of choice, cooked perfect. Welcoming and friendly staff. Great location walking distance from lake Windermere
